Treatment for Children and Adolescents
  • Does your child exhibit reactions that are disproportionate to the situation?
  • Is your child having difficulty developing relationships with peers?
  • Does your child have problems in completing tasks and following instructions?
  • Does your child isolate himself/herself, often?
  • Is your child falling behind academically?

    • Trauma may be the underlying cause.

As your therapist, I partner with you, the parents/caregivers, and your child, proactively building upon his/her strengths. Together, we will set goals. I will develop the treatment plan that best suits you and your child, with achievable goals. Objectives are clearly stated and measureable. Periodic treatment plan review will help us maintain focus and track progress.

Consulting and collaborating with your child’s medical doctor, psychiatrist, and/or psychologist can be very helpful in working with your child. I believe the holistic approach to treatment is the most effective and each professional has valuable information to contribute.

Assessments, such as the BASC 2, give parents, the child, his/her teachers, and the therapist results that can best determine the most effective treatment approach. I also offer a variety of assessments depending upon your needs and presenting issues.

Treatment is based on the most appropriate and effective treatment for the presenting problem. Examples of treatment include, but are not limited to:

  • Art-based Activities
  • Animal-Assisted Therapy
  • Behavioral Interventions
  • EMDR
  • Equine-Assisted Activities/Therapy
  • Music & Movement
  • Play Therapies
  • Sandtray Therapy
  • Social Skills Training
  • Solution Focused Therapy
